Rhododendron impeditum 'Select'
This is a dwarf, deciduous rhododendron which forms a dense mound of silvery grey-green, aromatic foliage. It bears intense, violet-blue flowers in April and May and thrives in cool, moist temperatures.

Under ideal conditions, it can be so flowery that it becomes a pure mound of purple for at least three weeks around April or May. Although it’s a sun-lover, some protection against the harshest summer sunlight is required, as well as some shelter from very cold winter winds. Routine pruning not required as it holds its formal shape without assistance.
