Nectarine - Prunus persica var nectarina 'Lord Napier'
‘Lord Napier’ has pale yellow and crimson fruits that are juicy with a delicious flavor. It has a ‘freestone’, meaning the flesh does not cling to the stone in the centre of the fruit, similar to some varieties of apricot. Ready to pick on early August, the blooms may be damaged by late frosts when they emerge in the springtime. When grown outside in a cooler climate, it is best planted against a south-facing wall. Self-fertile, so a pollination partner isn’t required. It is deciduous, and can be grown in containers.
