Fargesia murielae

(Umbrella Bamboo)

Back to Bamboos

Fargesia murielae
This is an excellent variety of clump forming bamboo which produces dense masses of striking yellow-green leaves which sprout from gracefully arching canes. The leaves are evergreen, providing beautiful detail and colour throughout the cooler months of the year.

It can be grown as an informal hedge, or as part of a Japanese-style garden to add a sense of height and scale. It has a robust and exotic appearance, but its habit will not become invasive.

Growing it in a container will help to restrict and control the roots, thus having a hand in controlling the amount of upper growth to keep the plant in check.
